Paris + Dominik's Chic LA Wedding

It’s been a wild year, especially for brides planning a wedding. After postponing and replanning their big day, Paris and Dominik made it official in front of their immediate family at a gorgeous private estate in Los Angeles, CA. Their personal style and chic aesthetic made it easy to finalize their wedding looks.

Paris wore Australian designer Pallas Couture, shoes by Jimmy Choo and Dominik wore a perfectly tailored GIVENCHY tux and Gucci loafers. This wedding was planned by the incredible ladies at RMBO Collective, shot by well-know photographer Katherine Rose, and make-up by the visionary, Melanesia Hunter of MakupActivist .

Maternity Finds

We’ve been meaning to write this post for a few months now, and thanks to being in quarantine, we’re actually getting the time to catch up on everything. Brittney and I are both expecting little boys in the next few months and despite the craziness of our current world, we couldn’t be more excited!

Over the last few months, we’ve collected some of our favorite maternity finds and thought we would share for all those expecting mamas out there. Just remember, this too shall pass and we’ll all get through it together.

COMFORTABLE DRESSES

Surprisingly, and luckily a lot of our existing maxi dresses worked really well with our growing bumps. At the beginning it was all about flowy, loose shapes, and as you grow - tighter, more structured cuts tend to be more flattering. Here are some of our favorite, comfortable dresses. Natalie Martin dresses have always been a closet favorite pre bump and they translate perfectly into a maternity wardrobe. Zara makes great less expensive options. Another look you can pull from your pre bump wardrobe that works well with a bump is a simple slip dress with a chunky sweater on top. The dress I didn’t take off ( pre quarantine) was the Ivy Dress by Aniche. It’s really comfortable, flattering and perfect for during and after pregnancy.

LOUNGEWEAR

We both wear a lot of loungewear/athleisure. The Align Pant and Align Jogger by Lululemon are top choices for both working out and working from the couch. It’s the softest, most buttery fabric and has just the right amount of stretch for the growing bump. Sweatsuits have always been a favorite because you can be comfortable but also look put together (kind of). We did a blog on cozy quarantine style (most of which can also be maternity). Also, this lounge pant is perfect because it can go over or under the bump.

UNDERGARMENTS

Comfortable undergarments were surprisingly difficult for both of us to find. If your experience is anything like ours, your traditional favorites will quickly feel too tight and pinch in all the wrong places as your body transforms. Our low rise Hanky Panky underwear just didn’t feel right pretty early on and you will be on the lookout for a more solid, comfortable pair. We’ve gathered some of our favorites below, but if you find any you love, we’re still on the lookout so please share.

As far as bras, we found it hard to wear underwire, but now more than ever you will need the support for those growing tats. This Spanx bra, although not sexy at all, is really comfortable and gives the support as if it has underwire. Then, there are breastfeeding and pumping bras that are really comfortable and can be worn pre and post baby- check out this really affordable option. See other favorite finds below.

MATERNITY JEANS + GOOD BASICS

Finding the right maternity jean was actually really difficult. I was shocked at how hard it was to find a brick and mortar store that carried maternity clothes (other than Hatch)- so our advice is to go online order a bunch of options and see which works best for you. Here are some tips..

The big debate here is - over the bump or side panels. It’s really just a personal decision and what size bump you’re working with. This pair of Paige has side panels and has been a favorite, but I think as you get larger, an over the bump style like this pair from Madewell might be preferred. We also love this boyfriend denim by Current Elliot. We have included our favorites of both styles below.

Finding good basic pieces are also key. You will find that your looser tops will work for a while, but they slowly start inching up and becoming crop tops, at which point, you will need maternity basics! Below you will find some of our recent purchases.

EXTRAS

We have found the items below to be especially helpful during pregnancy. For example, a good slipper with solid support is a must for around the house. We both got really dry skin so we shared a few hydrating face and body products we love. I believe stretch marks are more genetic than anything else, but staying moisturized and using a good body oil can’t hurt the cause. I personally love the way Bio Oil smells. A good friend recently shared Rescue by Cosmedix and I am officially obsessed, it’s the most amazing hydrating face goop ever! Chantecaille Lip Chic has always been one of my favorites for lips because they have great colors and it’s also really hydrating. And for that first trimester nausea…Gin Gin Ginger candies can (hopefully) help.

Cozy Quarantine Style

Sweatsuits have always been a favorite of mine, comfy yet actually stylish. Embarrassingly enough, my husband now calls them my second skin, but it was just a matter of time before he had his very own pair. Now more than ever- is their time to shine. Quarantine style can really be whatever you make of it.

Spring Quarantine

We’re all trying to figure out what to do with ourselves during this quarantine and we know it's not easy adjusting to this new normal.  Try to use this time to do things you haven't had time for, think of it as a reset. After all it is OFFICIALLY SPRING, let’s start a spring quarantining!

PURGING GUIDELINES

Condition - double check for stains, holes, worn fabric, shrinkage, discoloration (yes, especially those yellow pit stains) & more.

Timeline - check for items that you haven't worn in a while- ie. since your last move, yes unfortunately it's time to let it go!

Styled Out - has this item seen it's time, let it go to make space for new pieces. 

THREE PILES

 Donation - clothing you can donate to Goodwill, Dress For Success etc.

TLC - items that need a little love
- Alterations/Dry Cleaning to hem a pant, have a button fixed or remove an old stain
- Styled; StyleLab can help you work that piece into your wardrobe so you actual wear it

Fashion Weeks in the Big Four (London, Paris, New York, Milan) are officially over, and another season of fabulous fashion is keeping Pinterest fingers very trigger-happy.
